Hail Damage
What this involves.
Hail damage is easy to miss and expensive to ignore. A hailstone that strikes an asphalt shingle knocks away the granules that protect the asphalt from sun and weather, and it can bruise or crack the mat underneath. The shingle stays in place, the roof looks whole from the yard, and the damaged spots age faster every summer until they start letting water through.
On the roof, hail damage shows up as dark spots where granules are missing, soft bruises that give under a thumb, cracked or split shingles, and damage to the metal: dented vents, flashing and drip edge. Around the house the same storm leaves dents in gutters and downspouts, marks on siding and window frames, torn screens and dented fins on outdoor AC units. Those exterior signs are the easiest way for a homeowner to judge whether a storm was strong enough to hurt the roof.
How It Works
Free inspection
We inspect the roof and the exterior and document any damage with photos and notes.
You decide on the claim
If there is storm damage worth filing for, we help you understand what to tell your carrier. The decision is yours.
Adjuster and scope
We can meet the adjuster on site, review the carrier’s estimate against our findings, and send supplements for anything it missed.
The new roof
Once the scope is agreed and you sign, our own employees install your new roof.
The Difference
What to know before you decide.
Our inspection looks for both kinds, because a claim is stronger when the damage around the house supports the damage on the roof. It is free and carries no obligation. We photograph what we find and explain whether it is cosmetic, whether it shortens the life of the roof, and what repair or replacement it calls for.
Targeted repairs may be enough when hail or wind damage is limited to small areas: a handful of cracked shingles, a damaged vent, a section of flashing. Those get replaced and sealed so the roof keeps its full remaining life. When hail has marked every slope, patching one area leaves the rest to fail on its own schedule, and replacement is usually the honest answer. That is also the point where the insurance claim tends to decide the job.
Hail and the claim deadline run on the same clock. Many Texas policies expect a claim within a year of the date of loss, and a claim filed with photos taken soon after the storm is easier to support than one filed from memory. If you are not sure whether last spring’s storm hit your roof, the inspection is the quick way to find out.
If the roof is being replaced after hail, ask about Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, the highest impact rating a shingle can carry. North Texas sees hail most years, and some carriers give a premium credit for a qualifying roof, so the five-minute call to your agent can change which shingle makes the most sense.

Hail Damage, answered.
What does hail damage on a roof look like?
Dark spots where the granules are gone, soft bruises in the shingle, cracks, and dents in the metal vents and flashing. Dented gutters and downspouts around the house are a good sign the roof took hits too.
Can hail damage be repaired, or does the roof need replacing?
Limited damage in small areas can often be repaired. When hail has marked every slope, replacement is usually the better long-term answer, and that is when an insurance claim tends to cover it.
Is small hail enough to damage a roof?
It can be, depending on wind, the age of the shingles and how the storm hit. An older roof takes damage from smaller hail than a new one does. The inspection is the reliable way to know.
How soon after a hailstorm should I get an inspection?
As soon as it is safe. Early photos make a stronger claim, and many policies set a deadline, often one year from the storm.
