Storm Damage
What this involves.
A North Texas storm does not have to take shingles off a roof to damage it. Hail knocks the granules off asphalt shingles and leaves soft, dark bruises that age the roof years in an afternoon. Wind lifts the tabs and breaks the adhesive strips that keep each course sealed, so the next storm has an easier time of it. Flying debris cracks shingles and punctures vents. None of that has to be visible from the sidewalk.
That is why the first step after a storm is an inspection and not a guess. Ours is free and carries no obligation. It answers one question: did this storm damage your roof? Sometimes the answer is that your roof is fine, which is worth knowing too. When there is damage, we photograph it, explain what it means for the life of the roof, and tell you whether targeted repairs will do or whether a replacement is the honest recommendation.
How It Works
Free inspection
We inspect the roof and the exterior and document any damage with photos and notes.
You decide on the claim
If there is storm damage worth filing for, we help you understand what to tell your carrier. The decision is yours.
Adjuster and scope
We can meet the adjuster on site, review the carrier’s estimate against our findings, and send supplements for anything it missed.
The new roof
Once the scope is agreed and you sign, our own employees install your new roof.
The Difference
What to know before you decide.
You can gather useful evidence before anyone climbs a ladder. Write down the date of the storm and keep any weather alerts. Walk around the house and photograph dented gutters, downspouts, vents and fence caps, cracked screens, and granules piling up at the downspout exits. Dents in the metal around a house are one of the easiest signs a homeowner can spot, and if hail was strong enough to dent them, the roof deserves a closer look. Please do not get on the roof yourself.
Timing matters on the insurance side. Many Texas homeowner policies require a storm claim to be filed within a set window, often one year from the date of loss, and some policies set a shorter one. Check your own policy for the deadline that applies. It is also worth knowing your wind and hail deductible before you file, because it is often a percentage of the insured value: 2% on a home insured for $500,000 is $10,000.
Roof age is the other number to know. Many carriers move older roofs from replacement cost coverage to actual cash value, which subtracts depreciation from what they pay. A roof approaching ten or fifteen years old can be covered very differently from a new one, so it is worth asking your agent how your carrier treats yours before the next hailstorm rather than after.
When the storm has opened the roof and water is getting in, the order changes. We secure the roof first with temporary coverings such as professionally installed tarps to limit interior damage, and plan the full repair or replacement once the house is dry. WM Contracting handles storm damage for homes and businesses in Celina, Prosper, Frisco, Plano, Fate, Rockwall and the surrounding North Texas communities.

Storm Damage, answered.
How do I know if a storm damaged my roof?
Often you cannot tell from the ground. Dented gutters, downspouts or fence caps, granules collecting at the downspouts, and new water stains inside are the signs worth photographing. A free inspection answers it properly.
How long do I have to file a storm claim in Texas?
Many policies require it within one year of the date of loss, and some are shorter. Check your own policy, and write down the storm date now so you have it.
Should I file a claim before or after the inspection?
After. The inspection shows whether there is storm damage worth filing for, and gives you photos and notes to support the claim if you decide to file.
Will filing a claim raise my premium?
That depends on your carrier and your policy, and your agent is the person who can answer it. What we can tell you is whether there is damage to file for.
Do you work on businesses as well as homes?
Yes. We handle storm damage on homes and commercial properties across North Texas.
