What this involves.
Plenty of storm damage is a repair. A few shingles cracked or torn loose by wind, a vent dented by hail, a section of flashing lifted where a valley meets a wall: each of those can let water in, and each can be fixed without touching the rest of a roof that still has years left in it.
The trick is knowing where the damage stops. Wind that lifted one row of shingles may have broken the seal strips on the rows around it, and a leak that shows up over a hallway can start several feet uphill, because water runs along the decking before it drips. A repair that fixes the visible spot and misses the source has to be done twice. The free inspection is how we find the edges of the problem before we price the fix.

Common repairs after North Texas storms include replacing cracked, bruised or missing shingles and sealing them down, resetting or replacing flashing where it has pulled away at walls, valleys and chimneys, swapping out dented or cracked vents and pipe boots, and replacing ridge caps that wind has lifted. Where water has already reached the decking, the soft wood gets cut out and replaced before the new shingles go on.
Matching is part of the job. Shingle colors change over the years and a repaired patch on an older roof will rarely match exactly, so we talk through what the repair will look like before any work starts. On a roof where the damage is spread across several slopes, patching one area leaves the rest to fail on its own schedule, and a replacement is usually the better use of the money, particularly when a storm claim can cover it.
When the damage came from hail or wind, a repair can still be an insurance question. If the inspection turns up covered storm damage, we explain how it relates to a claim and help you decide whether filing makes sense given your deductible. If it does not, you get a straightforward repair price.

Does insurance cover roof repairs?
Covered storm damage can be, subject to your deductible and policy. For a small repair the deductible may be more than the repair costs, which is worth knowing before you file.
